The title is sort of a working title, but is based off the concept that how you style your hair, how much or how little make up your wear, or however you present yourself should be your choice, and yours alone.
In exploring gender, queerness, and the way people present themselves I've started a series based on the seemingly insignificant details that make up personal expression. This specific portrait was inspired by a pair of round thick rimmed glasses, and a friend's new long hairstyle that brought with it a fear of not looking 'gay enough.'
There are so many ways of being, living, and presenting yourself and your complex set of identities to the world. I want to capture these small choices and turn them into empowering representations of the every day people whom I love and who inspire me just by being.
